Paysage au hasard de la promenade (A scenic stroll)

2007

Canvas with cotton cut-out patterns and a projected DVD loop

5 mn loop on DVD, 114 cm X 162 cm

A personnalised movie-screen meant for a particular loop projection. The purpose is to create a landscape resulting from the strollers' contingent appearances and paths. The outline of the scenery does not influence the characters' courses but is the result of their peregrinations. The vegetable motifs assemble in black clusters so as to occupy the areas ignored by the strollers. The black areas absorb the light coming from the video projector while the empty beige parts of the canvas reflect the characters projected continuously. Sometimes the image fills the whole canvas which becomes thus a real screen for five seconds and immediately after turns again into a picture covered with motifs.
