This work focussing on landscape probes the relationship between insularity and exile through the exploration of conditions of instability: a woman-leaf; a tree-chair... Each drawing is a personal or a shared experience of exile. Any island (and more particularly Réunion Island) is a place of complex and unstable identities, a microcosm of successive waves of migrations, a crucible of languages, race-mixing and encounters. The island makes us question our identities and places us in the dynamics of metamorphosis and perpetual movement. The uprooted person is constantly torn between the desire to settle there and to return to the fatherland.
